Dry Point Etching Evening Workshop with Jayne Nemeth, 11th April 2018 7-9pm - £15 each

Join talented local artist Jayne Nemeth for an introduction to Drypoint Printing. A relaxed couple of hours where you will follow the creative process of learning a new skill from creating your own Drypoint etching plate, through to a finished print you'll be able to take home and frame. Please feel free to bring along a small object or a simple design of your own you would like work from. Spaces limited to six so all receive personal guidance. All tools and materials provided. Felted Derbyshire and Belper 'Soft' Rock Workshop with textile artist Lisa Green, Saturday 24th March 10-12 noon, £6

Fancy trying your hand at needle felting? Come and join Lisa Green Textile Artist, for a fun open to all workshop. Lisa, who uses felt making and embroidery to create her work, will guide you through the skills and processes of this therapeutic and effective technique. Using only wool fleece and a felting needle, you will take home a beautiful ‘soft rock’ or useful pebble pin cushion. It can look as natural and realistic, or as wildly coloured and wonderful as you like. It is just amazing to see the wool transform into something decorative and sculptural, just by stabbing it with a needle! No experience necessary, but due to the use of sharp needles, this is more suitable for older children, but younger ones can join in with the supervision of an adult. All materials provided.

Mindfulness and Relaxation Retreat with Therapuetic Arts Practitioner Kitty Schwichiski, 25th March, £10

In this wonderful 2 hour retreat, you will learn how to practice the art of mindfulness in a fun experiential way.  Step out of auto pilot and learn to live in the moment, enhance your feeling of well being, find calmness and clarity of mind.

Create your own felted favourite landscape with Textile artist Lisa Green, Wednesday 18th April, 6.30-9pm £25

Do you fancy trying a new way of ‘painting’? Lisa Green is a textile artist who uses felt and fibres, to ‘paint’. Come along to a friendly and warm workshop, where she will guide you through the layering and processes, to create a unique needle felted piece, which you can take home and proudly pop in a simple frame, to hang on your wall! All materials and tools will be provided, as well as design inspiration, but if you have a landscape photograph you wish to translate into felt, bring it along! No experience required!

Eight Week Mindfulness 'Stress Reduction through the Arts' Certified Workshop, 6th May - 1st July (excludes half term week), 11 to 1pm £150

This Eight Week Mindfulness Course is based on the Gold Standard Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. What will taking an MBSR course do for me? The course aims to assist you in taking better care of yourself and in getting the most out of living.

Creative Writing Workshop with award winning Emma Pass, 18th April, 7-9pm, £15 each

Through a series of short, fun writing exercises, Emma will take you through the building blocks to create your own stories, looking at characters, settings, how to get ideas and how to beat the dreaded writer's block! Emma Pass has been running regular creative writing workshops since 2010 in schools, libraries, universities and community settings. These are aimed at writers from all backgrounds and of all ability levels. Having witnessed firsthand the difference having a creative outlet can make to people's lives, she believes it is vital to basic wellbeing, and that the arts should be accessible to everyone. Emma is a young adult writer whose novels ACID and The Fearless have both been nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal.

Mixed Metal Jewellery and Keyfob Stamping Workshop with Zoe Adamson, 2nd May, £15

Hammering and fire! By manipulating various types of recycled and upcycled metals with hammers and flame, you will be creating small pieces of art work

Sterling Silver Jewellery Making with Zoe Adamson, 12th May, 10-4pm, £95

Design and create a unique necklace pendant with Belper Jewellery Designer Maker, Zoe Adamson (Adamson Jewellery). You will learn about a jewellery artists design processes and safe handling of specific jewellers equipment before making your own bespoke jewellery piece from start to finish. The price of this full day workshop includes design and smithing tuition, along with all equipment, materials, Sterling Silver and other mixed metals needed to create a unique statement necklace pendant of your own design that will be a talking point forever! 

Willow Weaving and Sculpture Taster day with Belper artist Emma Parkins, Saturday 19th May, 10-4pm, £45

  Come and learn some basic willow techniques used in willow weaving and sculpture. You can make a few small items such as a fish or snail,  then progress to a larger piece such as a ball or an organic shape. Suitable for beginners. The day will be very relaxed and welcoming. *just be aware that it can be quite physically demanding in the hands. Refreshments on tap all day, but please bring your own lunch.

Needle felted hare day with Lisa Green, Textile Artist, Wednesday 23rd May 10 to 3pm £60

Are you, like Lisa Green Textile Artist, mad about hares? Ever fancied making your own hare? Lisa, a felt and embroidery textile artist, who has also been making animal puppets, costumes and set pieces for Angel Heart Theatre, and Rattlebox Theatre for over 7 years will be leading and guiding you through each step of the creation, from shape forming, to posturing, and fine decorative details. Using only wool fleece and felting needles, you will be taking home your very own, more miniature (approximately 20cm tall) version of this wonderful, magical, elusive creature. Please don’t worry if you have had no experience with needle felting before, it isn’t necessary, as it will be a relaxed, fun and informative atmosphere. All materials and a few hare facts provided!  

Three Week Masterclass in Life Drawing, 7th, 14th and 21st June, 7-9pm £80

Master Classes in Life Drawing   A series of three sessions focusing on The Figure in Space Colour and Light Expression & Distortion with the aim of encouraging personal exploration of the figure and development of ideas through a process of experimentation and critical review. For those with some prior experience of life drawing who want to extend their knowledge and ways of working with the figure, and who are able to bring their own materials, which can include any water based media, collage, pastels, a range of drawing materials, and a sketchbook, papers and drawing board.

Make an Eco Print Scarf with Joelle Harris, 30th June 2018, 10am-3pm, £60 each

Eco-Print, is the environmentally friendly way to create prints on fabric, using flowers and leaves, Joelle will show you how to achieve these beautiful prints and help you choose leaves and petals to create a variety of your own printed samples as well as a beautiful silk scarf or fair-trade cotton scarf for you to take home. During the workshop, Joelle will discuss sustainable practices in textile creation and advise on gathering wild plants and foraging from your own garden and kitchen to enable you to use waste material to carry on eco- printing at home with very little equipment.

Lino Printing with Jayne Nemeth, 19th June 2018, 6-9pm, £25

Join me,Jayne Nemeth, at Creartii for an introduction to Lino Printing. Three hours of creativity and relief printing. Following step by step to producing your own personal Lino cut block and a print to take home and frame. All materials provided. Lino Reduction Workshop with Jayne Nemeth, 18th July 6-9pm, £30

Join me for a reduction lino printing workshop. Suitable for those who have already had a go at basic lino printing and would like to take it a step further. We'll be using the reduction method to create an at least two colour print. You'll be guided through the cutting process, and learn registration to print and produce a lovely piece of unique work to frame up. All materials included.
